- The Leviathan Axe: Kratos’s signature ice-infused axe returns. It excels at powerful melee swings, precise ranged throws (which can freeze enemies), and recall attacks that can hit foes from behind. It’s particularly effective against fiery enemies.
- Blades of Chaos: The iconic fiery chained blades are back, excelling at wide-sweeping attacks for crowd control, extending combos, and inflicting burn damage. They are highly effective against frosted or ice-based enemies and can be used for traversal by grappling onto points.
- Draupnir Spear (New Weapon): A powerful and versatile new addition to Kratos’s arsenal. This wind-infused spear can be thrown and embedded into enemies or environmental objects, then detonated with a press of the Triangle button for massive area-of-effect damage. It’s also excellent for rapid, short-range melee attacks and opens up new traversal opportunities.
- Shield Mechanics: Kratos’s Guardian Shield is more versatile than ever. Different shield types (e.g., Dauntless Shield for parries, Stone Wall Shield for absorbing damage) offer unique offensive and defensive capabilities. Players must learn to react to enemy attacks: yellow-ringed attacks require a precise parry (L1); red-ringed attacks are unblockable and must be dodged (X button); blue-ringed attacks require a shield slam (double-tap L1) to interrupt and stun the enemy.
- Runic Attacks: Both the Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, and Draupnir Spear can be equipped with powerful Light and Heavy Runic Attacks. These are special magical abilities that consume cooldowns but unleash devastating elemental damage, crowd control, or utility. Upgrading them enhances their power.
